Marie Gillo
Marie Grillo has been teaching Pilates since 2003, when she earned her classical certification under Romana Kryzanowska at The Pilates Studio of Seattle. Over the years, she has studied with and taught alongside many renowned instructors, including Dorothea Van der Walle, Ellie Herman, Brooke Siler, Erika Bloom, Lori Coleman-Brown, and more. Her teaching continues to evolve, always centering on the individual needs of her clients.
In addition to her Pilates work, Marie is an award-winning screenwriter, filmmaker, and actress based in Astoria, Queens. She holds a degree in Literature from SUNY Purchase and a Master’s in Early Childhood Education from Touro College.
Blending her creative and movement backgrounds, Marie wrote, produced, and directed an original musical based on the life of Joseph Pilates, which played to sold-out audiences at The Collective Unconscious, Manhattan Theatre Club, and La MaMa. She is also the author of the self-published e-book Sad Girl’s Guide to Fitness and spent six years working as a preschool teacher.
